 The Accounting MS degree prepares you with essential skills for careers that demand a high level of accounting and financial knowledge and expertise. The degree also satisfies the education requirements for becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in most jurisdictions. Degree Plans We offer two specializations within the MS degree that respond to continuing high demand for professionals skilled in either financial accounting or taxation. Those two degree tracks are: For currently enrolled Leeds undergraduate students we also offer the Concurrent Bachelor of Science/Master of Science degree in business administration with a concentration in accounting or taxation. Career Opportunities Careers in accounting and finance have become more challenging and highly compensated. Demand for professionals with financial expertise is very high. The MS program prepares students who wish to become CPAs in auditing or taxation for the first stage of their professional lives or for their careers. Graduates may work in public accounting firms, corporations, government agencies, education, and non-profits or NGOs (nongovernmental organizations). Understanding the “language of business” through education and relevant experience prepares you to progress to high-level positions in all these domains or to start your own business. The opportunities for accounting specialists are widely varied and virtually limitless. Admission Requirements An undergraduate degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 and a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) score of 550 are the minimum admission criteria. Our program is a Master's Degree in Business Administration (MSBA). Similar degree titles are also known at other schools as Master's of Accounting (MAcc), Master of Accounting (MAC), Master's of Accountancy (MAcy), Master in Professional Accounting (MPA), Master of Science in Accounting (MSA), Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcc).
