Standards of Performance
Students are held to basic standards of performance with respect to attendance, active participation in course work, promptness in completion of assignments, correct English usage both in writing and speech, accuracy in calculations and general quality of scholastic workmanship. In general, examinations are required in all courses and for all students, including seniors.
Good Academic Standing
To be in good standing, students must have an overall GPA of 2.00 (C) or better for all coursework taken and 2.00 or better for all business courses taken. Students must earn a passing grade for all required courses. These requirements apply to courses taken at all university campuses. Physical education activity courses, repeated courses (not taken under the Course Repetition program), and remedial course work are not included in the overall or business grade point average.
Any student earning all failing grades or no academic credit for a semester will not be permitted to register without the dean's approval. When semester grades become available, students below the acceptable standard will be placed on probation or suspension. Students are responsible for being aware of their academic status at all times and late grades and/or late notification do not waive this responsibility. Placing students on probation and suspension occurs automatically at the end of the semester based on the student's GPAs.
Probation
Students whose cumulative GPA or cumulative business GPA falls below 2.00 will be placed on probation immediately. Those students who enroll in any term in the calendar year, excluding summers, after being placed on probation are expected to raise their cumulative and business GPA to at least 2.00 in that term. CU-Boulder's summer session or enrollment through Boulder's continuing education evening courses will not count as a probationary semester.
Scholastic Suspension
Students who still have a cumulative overall and/or business average below 2.00 after their semester of probation will be suspended and will not be able to register for University of Colorado daytime courses on any campus during the regular academic year, August to May.
Students who make up their grade deficiencies prior to the expiration of the one-year suspension and desire to be readmitted must reapply to the University through the Office of Admissions. Readmission is subject to enrollment limitations. Suspended students may attend summer session at any campus of the University of Colorado, take correspondence courses, and/or take Continuing Education credit classes in order to improve their GPA in the area of deficiency. During their suspension, students may also attend another educational institution and return as transfer students when they have overcome their grade deficiencies. This option requires students to have their proposed coursework approved by the Office of Undergraduate Studies of the Leeds School of Business. These transfer grades are used only for the purpose of readmission and are not calculated in the University of Colorado GPA. Dismissed students pursuing this latter option have two semesters after readmission to bring their University of Colorado and business GPA up to 2.00 or they are suspended again.
Students who have been under suspension for one calendar year and have elected none of the above may apply for readmission to the Leeds School of Business. Students will have two semesters to raise their cumulative or business GPA to at least 2.00 (provided that the GPA improves during the first semester back).
Suspended Leeds School of Business students who transfer into another school or college of the University will not be eligible to register for Business courses and will be subject to administrative drops.

Options for Students on Suspension
Please note : This information is provided as a guideline. It is best to consult with your business academic advisor to develop a plan that works for you. Contact the Office of Undergraduate Student Services at the Leeds School of Business for an appointment at (303) 492-6515 .
To earn reinstatement to Boulder campus day classes, you must earn credit hours and grades sufficient to raise your CU cumulative and/or business grade point average to 2.00 or above OR not attend classes for two academic (not including summer) semesters at the University of Colorado, Boulder. You can make use of one or more of the options below to achieve this.
1. You may elect to stay out of school during suspension (a minimum two academic semesters, not including summer), and then apply for Reinstatement. You will then have two semesters to raise your GPAs (both cumulative and business) to a 2.00 once you return (see Reinstatement below).
2. You may take Boulder Evening classes offered through the Division of Continuing Education. These grades will be calculated into your CU GPA. Please call (303) 492-5148 for further information or visit the Continuing Education website at http://www.colorado.edu/conted/. Students who choose to enroll in Continuing Education courses to restore their good standing must achieve a minimum 2.00 cumulative and/or business GPA in all CU courses taken.
Note: Students on dismissal are not eligible for the ACCESS program or for courses offered through Individualized Instruction. These programs are also administered by Continuing Education.
3. You may take Summer session courses at any of the three campuses of the University of Colorado.http://www.colorado.edu/summer All grades earned will be calculated into your CU GPA regardless of the campus attended. You must contact a business advisor if you plan this in order to achieve reinstatement once your GPA is at academic standard.
4. You may take online and correspondence courses through CU’s Independent Learning program. For further information and to review a list of available courses, please visit www.colorado.edu/cewww or call (303) 492-5148 . Note: Only online & correspondence courses offered by CU will be calculated into your CU GPA. Independent Learning courses are a good option only for students who are skilled at working on their own and can budget their time well. Students who choose to enroll in any Continuing Education courses to restore their good standing must achieve a minimum 2.00 cumulative and/or business GPA in all courses taken.
5. You may take courses at another academic institution . You must consult with a business advisor for pre-approval of coursework.
Reinstatement
Please note: Regardless of the option(s) you choose to raise your grade point average, it is your responsibility to notify the Advising Office and the Office of Admissions when you are qualified for reinstatement. This is not done automatically.
The Advising Office must have a written request for reinstatement once you are eligible. You may do this via email if it’s more convenient. Go to Advisor contact info for advisor contact information. The advisor you contact will get in touch with you to clarify your enrollment plan. You must also submit a “readmit” application to the Office of Admissions. Go to Office of Admissions Readmit l for an online application. While Admissions will accept an application before you have been reinstated by the Advising Office, they will not process it. For optimum course selection, please be sure to apply by mid-March for fall semester and mid-October for spring semester. As long as your cumulative gpa is below 2.0, you must be readmitted to the Leeds School as a business student.
If you have done work at a school other than CU, you must also provide the Office of Admissions with an official transcript of all coursework, including final grades, for the most recent term of enrollment. We will not accept an interim report of courses in progress.
