If you are planning to Study Abroad Independently (a non-CU sponsored study abroad): Step 1: Pick a Program & Apply Research and select the program (The Study Abroad Office may be able to give you some advice on where to look). Step 2: Select Possible Courses for Approval Step 3: Fill out Forms You need to fill out two forms. 1) Get the “University of Colorado at Boulder Studying Abroad Independently” form from the Study Abroad Office or you may find the form online at: http://studyabroad.colorado.edu. Click on “Getting Started,” click on “Define Goals and Look at Options,” scroll down, click on option #6, and click on “Applying to non-CU-Boulder Study Abroad Programs.” The form is linked on this page. Fill out and sign this form. 2) Fill out the “Course Listing” form (link below). Make sure you fill out the entire form, including what you are hoping the course will count for. Step 4: Get Form Signed by Admissions Go to the Office of Admissions and have someone sign your Studying Abroad Independently form, confirming that the institution is approved for transfer credit to CU (You must earn the equivalent of a C- or better for any courses to transfer). Step 5: Submit Materials and Schedule an Advising Appointment To be eligible to make an appointment, you must bring in course descriptions and your Studying Abroad form (with signature) along with the Course Listing form. When you drop these documents off, we will schedule an appointment with you for 5 business days later. During your appointment (plan for at least 30 minutes), an advisor will explain the results of the evaluation to you and discuss your academic plan.
