Transfer Credit Information for Non-Business CU Students

Policies for transfer credit in the Minor
  • A maximum of 9 hours of transfer credit in business coursework may be applied toward the minor.
  • All transfer credit must be preapproved by Undergraduate Student Services (see procedure below).
  • Only work from regionally accredited institutitions will transfer.
  • Credits in business subjects transferred from other institutions will be limited to the number of credit hours given for equivalent work in the regluar offering of the university.
  • Students must submit a carefully checked catalog description and /or course syllabus for course equivalency determination since a course given at another institution may have the same name and textbook as a business course here and still be taught with a non-business emphasis or other variations that give it little value for business.
Policies for transfer credit for potential IUT students

If you are interested in transferring into the Leeds School of Business, please check here for information on the Intra-University Transfer process.

  • The school reserves the right to disallow any credit that it deems inappropriate degree credit. Credits in business subjects transferred from other institutions will be limited to the number of credit hours given for equivalent work in the regular offerings of the university.
  • Only work from regionally accredited institutions will transfer to the school.
  • All area of emphasis courses must be completed at CU after admissions to the Leeds school.
  • Once you are admitted to Leeds, all remaining BCOR courses must be taken at the University of Colorado at Boulder.
  • A maximum of 60 semester hours of credit may be accepted from a two-year school.
  • Actual equivalent courses may be substituted for some required courses. Students must submit a carefully checked catalog description and course syllabus for course equivalency determination since a course given at another institution may have the same name and same textbook as a required business course and still be taught with a non-business emphasis or other variations that give it little value for business.
  • IUT students must take a minimum of 30 hours of business courses, including the area of emphasis, in residence after admission to the Leeds school.
  • For more information on transfer credit policies and concurrent enrollment policies, please see the Undergraduate Catalog.
Business Course Evaluation *

If you need to have business courses evaluated for possible future transfer into the Leeds School of Business or for the minor:

  1. Print out the transfer preapproval form: Preapproval form
  2. Read all rules on page 2 of this form. Follow the instructions on the form to fill out the appropriate sections of the form. Incomplete forms will not be processed.
  3. Call Office of Admissions  (303) 492-6301  to confirm that credit from the school in question is accepted into CU Boulder (This is not necessary if the credit is from CU Denver,CU Colorado Springs, or any of the Colorado Community Colleges). **
  4. Attach course descriptions for each of the courses you want approved to form. We will evaluate no more than 10 courses.
  5. Drop the form and course descriptions off at the Undergraduate Student Services office. An adivsor will evaluate the courses and get back to you by phone or e-mail. This process takes no less than 5 business days.
  6. If you have questions, you may come for walk-in advising on Fridays only between 9:30and 12:00 or 1:00 and 4:00. We can answer general questions during walk-in advising but we cannot do course evaluations on the spot.

*PLEASE NOTE: When we evaluate courses, we are giving approval for the Leeds School only and cannot guarantee that your college or school will accept them.

**It is the student's responsibility to check with Admissions. If they do not check with Admissions and it is later determined by Admissions that credit from the school in question is not admissible, then any pre-approvals done by the advising office are void.
