Scholarships

Eligibility to Apply
Continuing undergraduate students currently enrolled full time in the Leeds School of Business at the CU Boulder campus at the time of scholarship application (having completed 12 credit hours in the previous semester at CU Boulder) are eligible to apply for business scholarship awards. Awards are competitive and scholarship funds are limited; therefore, submission of an application does not guarantee a scholarship award.

Criteria
Applicants should review the online Leeds School of Business Scholarships for specific criteria on available scholarships. Many awards are given on the basis of academic achievement; however, the Leeds School of Business administers several scholarships which require the applicant to demonstrate financial need in addition to outstanding academic performance and select areas of study. To be eligible and/or considered for those scholarships which stipulate financial need as a factor, applicants must file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) available at http://www.FAFSA.ed.gov(a program of the Federal Government). FAFSA results should be on file with the University of Colorado at Boulder Office of Financial Aid no later than March 1st of each calendar year.

Application Process
Applicants should review scholarships and criteria and must complete the online scholarship application.  Please note that scholarship criteria may be altered, changed, or removed prior to the awarding process. Scholarships may be added or removed from eligibility as funding allows.

A RESUME and PERSONAL ESSAY are required for all scholarships. “Scholarship essay questions are designed to get better acquainted with you in a personal statement, aside from the information you provided on your resume and academic transcript. The task of the scholarship committee is to match the scholarship with a scholar.” Please tell the committee why you are most deserving of a scholarship. Please check the link at http://www.colorado.edu/finaid/scholarship_essay_tips.html for help with your personal essay. Students may also stop by the Leeds Career Connections Office in Koelbel 227 and the staff can help you with your resume.

Application Deadline

UPDATE:  DEADLINE HAS BEEN EXTENDED:
Online applications are due no later than midnight on Monday, March 9th, 2009 .

Review And Award
Administration of scholarship funds is the responsibility of the Leeds Business Scholarship Committee or respective departments. Members of the committee include representatives from each of the five academic divisions, as well as other faculty and staff within the Leeds School of Business. This committee has the responsibility of selecting recipients in accordance with the donors’ wishes and awarding the available funds. Unless otherwise indicated, scholarship awards are for the full academic year.

Notification of Recipients
The Leeds Business Undergraduate Scholarship Committee will review applications, and applicants will be notified by letter or via email at the student’s CU email address of any scholarship awards by the end of the summer semester. Award recipients are required to write thank you letters to the donor(s) of their scholarship and attend the annual Scholarship Awards Luncheon in the fall where donors will be in attendance. Details on the date, time, and location of the luncheon will be mailed to recipients at a later date.

Disbursement of Award Funds
Scholarship awards are applied to the recipient’s tuition and fees bill for the appropriate semester(s) once a copy of the thank you letter(s) has been received by the Leeds Scholarship Coordinator. Recipients should contact the Bursar’s Office to verify that any awards have been properly credited prior to the payment deadline for each semester.
