Deming Center 2014 Vision
In 2014, the Deming Center at the University of Colorado will celebrate its 30th year at the forefront of entrepreneurial education. From its original thought leadership and pivotal research around entrepreneurship in the eighties, to the thought provoking research, coursework and programs that have helped expand the meaning of entrepreneurship, the Deming Center and its world-class faculty have enriched the lives of students, made seminal contributions to academia, and strengthened both the University of Colorado and the Boulder Community.

The Deming Center was the first to define Sustainable Entrepreneurship as traditional entrepreneurship with an added   focus on social and environmental responsibility, public policy, transparency, and global citizenship. The Center instills in its students the knowledge that true entrepreneurs create enduring value for shareholders and customers – while also enriching the lives of their employees and strengthening the communities in which they live and work.

Through the Deming Center’s unique program, students receive the multi-dimensional education they need to thrive in today’s complex world, including:
•    Cutting-edge business curriculum with courses designed specifically for the entrepreneur;
•    Access to specialty programs in Cleantech, Bioscience and Organics;
•    A rich, cross-campus focus on entrepreneurship that extends beyond the Business School to include Tech Transfer and the Bioscience, Engineering and Law programs; and
•    The Deming Network – an active group of world-class successful entrepreneurs who serve as mentors, provide internships, sponsor business plan competitions and are major contributors.

Set in one of the world’s hotbeds of entrepreneurship, Boulder, Colorado, the Deming Center consistently ranks as one of the top programs in the country. The Center’s faculty is vibrant and growing.  Its graduate program operates at capacity – with a stronger class of students competing for admission each year.  And its donors are making it self-sustaining with a funding pool available to continue ground-breaking research around Sustainable Entrepreneurship.
