Inspired Entrepreneurship

For Students

The Leeds School of Business and the state of Colorado are widely recognized for their unique entrepreneurial climate. The Leeds School has consistently ranked among the top 20 programs for entrepreneurship nationally by US News & World Report (2000-2009).

The Deming Center inspires students to expand their sense of what’s possible by providing experiences that test students' skills in critical thinking and problem-solving, so they learn to make sound business decisions. The Deming Center creates opportunities to run with  ideas, so students gain confidence in their skills to manage business risks. Undergraduate business students may earn a certificate of excellence in Entrepreneurial Studies. MBA students may follow a concentration in entrepreneurship.

Courses in entrepreneurial finance, marketing, and business planning are supplemented with a rich array of opportunities to engage with the region’s dynamic entrepreneurial community. Students emerge with the knowledge, understanding, and skills to create, organize, and manage new or emerging ventures.

Charlie Bloch (MBA/MS Environmental Studies Candidate), recognized that the Deming Center was positioning itself as a ‘hub’ for cleantech, and knew that he wanted to do his graduate studies at the Leeds School of Business. In fact, Leeds was the only place he applied to.

“I expect to gain as much practical experience from my involvement in the Deming network as I do from my university classes. I’ve already gotten countless professional contacts, as well as a part-time summer internship working with a CU-based renewable energy start-up, Copernican Energy.”
