Alexander E. Bracken

Deming Center for Entrepreneurship

Dr. Alexander E. (Sandy) Bracken most recently served as the Executive Director of the Bard Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado at Denver, School of Business, from 2001-2007. Prior to this position, he served as the 19th President of the University of Colorado in 2000. Previously, Dr. Bracken was Vice President of Public Affairs for 19 years with Ball Aerospace & Technologies Corp. Before joining Ball Aerospace, Dr. Bracken was Assistant Professor of History at Anderson College, Anderson, IN.

Dr. Bracken has a Ph.D. and M.A. degrees in American History from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana. His undergraduate degree is in Government and International Relations from Carleton College in Northfield, Minnesota.

Dr. Bracken has been affiliated with several state commissions including the Colorado Commission on Higher Education, Colorado Achievement Commission, Colorado Math, Science and Technology Commission, the Colorado Space Business Roundtable, and the Space Awareness Alliance. Currently, Dr. Bracken serves on the Boulder Community Hospital Board of Directors as its Chair, the Imagine! Foundation Board, and the University of Colorado at Boulder Presidents Leadership Class and Deming Center Boards.
