Royal W. Carson, III, age 60, is Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Carson Private Capital and has over 35 years of experience in the management and financing of businesses within the private equity and energy industries.
Since 1996, Mr. Carson’s core focus has been the formation of scale investment partnerships to provide the Firm’s sophisticated investors located throughout the U.S. access to highcaliber investment opportunities in upper-tier transactions in North America and Europe, typically restricted to institutional investors. From 1974 to 1994, Mr. Carson’s core focus was in oil and gas investments and operations.
In 1977, Mr. Carson founded Carson Petroleum Corporation, a mid-sized independent oil and gas exploration, production, and operating company with over 50,000 net acres under lease, 100 employees and over 300 producing units in the Mid-Continent and the Appalachian Basin producing regions, which he operated until the business was sold to Devon Energy in early 1982.
Mr. Carson also co-founded CPC Dale Petroleum Company, which generated oil and gas prospects and operated wells focusing on 3-D seismic and horizontal drilling operations in South and East Central Texas and South Louisiana until those assets were sold to W. R. Grace & Company and Snyder Oil & Gas in 1994.
Mr. Carson continues to actively monitor, review and participate in opportunities within the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil and gas industry and oversees the production and ongoing development of oil and gas properties in Texas, Kansas, Louisiana and West Virginia.
Mr. Carson serves on the Board of Directors for LIN Television Corporation (NYSE: TVL), TriDimension Energy, the University Of Colorado Leeds School Of Business, and the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship at the University of Colorado. Mr. Carson serves on the Advisory Boards of HM Capital Partners (Dallas), Lion Capital (London), and Cotton Creek Partners (Dallas). Mr. Carson serves, or has served, on several privately held corporations and non-profit organizations including the Roaring Fork Club (Aspen), the Dallas Museum of Natural History and the St. Phillips School and Community Center (South Dallas).
