David Geras

Deming Center for Entrepreneurship

David Geras is the co-founder, president and CEO of GoldLeaf CareGivers. After a successful 25 year career in global technology sales, marketing and business development management positions with industry leaders IBM, BMC, Sun Microsystems, Sony and NEC, Mr. Geras decided to shift career directions and establish a home health care company to better meet the needs of America’s aging population. Mr. Geras noticed the availability of consistent, quality home care was seriously deficient, not only in the Denver, Colorado area, but across the country.

Mr. Geras heard numerous stories from friends and business associates about inconsistent, unreliable caregivers, but he was personally impacted by these issues when close family members were struck with the seriously debilitating diseases of Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The importance of compassionate care for people not being able to get through their daily routine or requiring constant attention when family members cannot be with them 24x7 became a critical need for his family. Time and time again, they came up short finding reputable companies to meet their needs.

After much discernment, Mr. Geras decided to leave the technology industry, take his 20 years of personal caregiving experience and start a company to meet the fast-growing needs of families requiring care for their loved ones in the comfort of their own homes. He was specifically drawn to the outreaching nature of the industry and has found the business morally fulfilling and a way to give back to society by helping people in need. He partnered with a close, personal friend, Ms. Lia Rhodes, to launch GoldLeaf CareGivers in 2011 to provide quality, consistent, compassionate homecare in the Denver metropolitan area. The company is conveniently located near downtown and services Denver and the surrounding suburbs.

Mr. Geras graduated from the University of Colorado in Boulder with a B.S. degree in Marketing and International Business. He lived and worked in Japan for 10 years during his career and is proficient in Japanese. In addition to running GoldLeaf CareGivers, Mr. Geras is an angel investor in Denver/Boulder and Chicago area technology start-ups. He serves on several non-profit boards, is involved in several professional organizations and has participated in numerous outreach and humanitarian projects in communities throughout Denver and Southeast Asia. Mr. Geras lives with his wife, Miki, and their two daughters in Greenwood Village, Colorado.
