Welcome
Two-year commitment. Endless opportunity.
We are proud to be noted 35th on the U.S. News & World Report list of the nation's top part-time MBA programs surveyed.
Education and innovation intersect in the Leeds Evening MBA program. Our program is specifically designed for working professionals and is offered in a two-year format -- one that allows students to take even more elective courses. Evening MBA students develop a strong core business foundation completed by electives that speak to their unique professional goals and interests.
Our small, personal evening program enrolls students each May with a cohort of working professionals completing the Evening MBA experience together. By working lock-step with your peers, our program builds a committed MBA community which has offered invaluable networking opportunities for our graduates. Another big plus of this peer community is that our graduation rate is consistently above 85%, as compared to more flexible part-time programs which often have graduation rates of 50%. Classes meet two times per week, from 6:30pm—9:15pm.

Management & Entrepreneurship
The entrepreneurship program at the Leeds School of business is internationally recognized for the quality of its instruction and the capabilities of our MBA students. Within the Leeds School, the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship has served as a rich resource for students with interests in entrepreneurship – coordinating the academic curriculum, providing help with internship and job placement, creating links with the business community, sponsoring networking opportunities, and many special events.
A Leeds MBA gives entrepreneurial students the skills and knowledge to build and run their dream company:
- Business plan preparation and execution - learn how startup businesses can successfully undertake standard business functions (organization, marketing, sales, advertising, operations, team building, and finance) with minimal resources (cash, personnel, and equipment).
- Create a sophisticated business plan within task groups from the concept through all the elements of a professionally written business plan. Leeds provides you with a high interaction with businesses and entrepreneurs.
- Sustainable and ethical entrepreneurship: focuses on environmentally sustainable business ventures and businesses that solve natural environmental challenges while achieving profitability.
- Entrepreneurial finance and marketing: addresses the marketing challenges that face the entrepreneur or start up firm with a limited budget in the development and implementation of a marketing plan. You will understand financial valuation, various sources of funds, the private and public venture capital markets, and preparation for, and execution of, an initial public securities offering.
A portfolio of entrepreneurship electives, combined with an emphasis in a functional discipline such as finance, marketing, operations, or information management, will prepare you for a variety of careers. Whether you go to work for a large global corporation or a small start-up venture, you will be valued for your ability to innovate, lead change, recognize emerging markets, and launch new products. Following are just a few of many ways that you can create a portfolio of entrepreneurially oriented courses that will jump-start your career.
Evening MBA Electives
Finance
Build a portfolio of finance electives to support your career objectives. A finance-focused MBA education provides students with critical skills for building a career as a financial officer in a growing or established company, as a analyst in corporate development, investment management, investment banking and consulting, or as a generalist seeking the advantage of being comfortable with extensive financial modeling and strategy.
Whether your goals are success in entrepreneurial finance, venture capital and real estate capital markets, corporate finance, or financial consulting, the Leeds MBA is the key to your career success.
But you need knowledge to succeed, and nowhere is that more true than in Finance. Our faculty are at the forefront of financial knowledge creation. They are regularly published in some of the most important periodicals and journals, and consult with a wide variety of local and national companies. Additionally, faculty participation in our most recent academic conferences is at record levels and they are excited to share their newest learning with students.
The networking and real-world knowledge sharing that occur through these centers and events are invaluable additions to your professional growth.
Leeds MBA students learn the skills and knowledge to create new financial value and markets:
- Advanced corporate finance: this covers asset pricing theory applied to capital budgeting, capital structure choice, mergers and acquisitions, and risk management.
- Investment management and analysis - this includes risk and return relationships, securities, and value theory.
- Applied financial management: includes planning, managing working capital, short- and long-term financing, capital budgeting, valuation, and capital structure policies.
- International finance: includes the management of foreign exchange risk exposure and international working capital.

Marketing
Build a portfolio of marketing electives to support your career objectives. A marketing-focused MBA education prepares students for a variety of career paths. The following list is by no means exhaustive; it is meant to fill in some details about what jobs in marketing entail. The titles of the different functions vary, so we give descriptions of the roles along with some typical titles.
You will learn to create, deliver, and enhance business value through the development, communication, and distribution of products, services and ideas.
Our faculty will help you analyze and understand a company's customers, competitors and resources. From that you will identify viable opportunities, and then develop marketing strategies to capture the most desirable markets. The final step is implementing your vision through product development and planning, pricing, communications, and distribution.
Your MBA experience will be immersive and complete. The marketing faculty at Leeds is well-trained, experienced, and diverse. Through research, internships, case-studies and presentations you will hone the skills needed to realize your MBA goals:
- Brand strategy development
- Entrepreneurial marketing
- Sustainable and ethical management practices
- Consulting skills
Areas of faculty interest range from the study of buyer decision making, brand strategy development, entrepreneurial marketing, e-business marketing, and marketing strategy to econometric modeling, pricing, marketing communications, ethnic and gender influences on marketing, new product development, marketing research, and international marketing.

Financing Your Evening MBA
The decision to invest in your graduate education is an important step toward meeting your future goals. Evening MBA students typically use a combination of company-sponsored tuition support and educational loans to fund their educational endeavors.
Financing Your Evening MBA
Estimated Expenses
For the class entering the Evening MBA program in the summer 2013 semester, the cost is $8,000 per semester for six semesters, for a total of $48,000. That rate will not increase during the duration of your program as long as you maintain enrollment in the program.
Financial Aid
If you are interested in receiving financial assistance through federal loan programs you should complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The FAFSA is completed online by going to www.fafsa.ed.gov. Follow the instructions provided to secure a “PIN” number and save the number for further use. The University of Colorado Boulder treats the summer term as a trailer of the academic year. Therefore for summer of 2013 it is necessary to complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA. For the 2013-2014 academic year a 2013-2014 FAFSA must be completed.
Note: If you are interested in receiving federal funding for the summer of 2013 you should complete the 2012-2013 FAFSA as soon as possible.
Quick Steps to Financial Aid
- Complete the appropriate FAFSA using your Federal PIN to sign the form online.
- Once completed online the FAFSA processors will send to CU-Boulder electronically. The CU/Boulder school code is 001370.
- Accept the loan amounts you wish to receive for each semester. Complete the master promissory note by going to www.studenloans.gov using your FAFSA PIN number.
- Be informed. Federal aid is subject to academic requirements such as completion rates and grade point averages. Financial aid for a term is affected by enrollment for the term. Graduate students must be enrolled in at least 4 credit hours a semester to receive aid. For additional information visit the Office of Financial Aid.
Company Reimbursement
The majority of our Evening MBA students receive some educational reimbursement support from their employers. Be sure to investigate these opportunities through your company's human resource department.
Evening MBA Fellowship
The Leeds School of Business offers a competitive fellowship award to selected candidates admitted to the Evening MBA program with funding provided by the Leeds School of Business. The criteria for merit-based awards include prior academic achievement, professional accomplishments, and extracurricular contribution, based on those materials that you submit during the application process.
Fellowship funding is limited and preference is given to candidates who are not receiving any company assistance. When completing your on-line application, you should indicate your interest in the Leeds Evening MBA Fellowship award and submit the required essay at that time. For optimal consideration, fellowship applications should be submitted with the online application for admission.
Some of the Leeds Fellowship funding is entirely merit-based and some is both merit- and need-based. In order to award our funding efficiently, all applicants for the Leeds Evening MBA Fellowship who are US citizens or permanent residents should file a Federal Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). This form should be submitted online after you have filed your 2010 income taxes.
Evening MBA Fellowship Information
When completing your on-line application, you can indicate your interest in the Leeds School of Business Fellowship and submit the required essay.
Tuition Reduction for CU-Boulder Employees
The Leeds School of Business at CU-Boulder is pleased to offer a 20% tuition reduction for CU-Boulder employees enrolled in the Evening MBA Program.
For the class enrolling in May of 2012, Evening MBA tuition is $48,000 for the complete two-year program, charged in six equal installments. Both the tuition rate and the reduction amount will be set for each enrolling class and will not change during the duration of the program, as long as the student maintains standard enrollment. At the current rate, the tuition reduction will cover $9,600 of the Evening MBA total tuition cost ($1,600 per term*). The student will be responsible for the remaining $38,400 of the Evening MBA tuition.
Note: *Any tuition reduction in excess of $5,250 that is excludible annually for tax purposes will be treated as wages, subject to applicable payroll taxes and withholding.
Need-Based Financial Aid
Many Evening MBA students will apply for need-based financial aid to make up the difference between what their company will contribute and the cost of the program. Evening MBA students who are U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens may apply for need-based financial aid in the form of federal student loans. To apply for financial aid, you must submit both the 2010 and 2011 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online.
Financial aid for the Evening MBA program is managed by the Division of Continuing Education. For more information please contact Financial Aid Advisor Russ Richards at 303.492.8146, or at russell.richards@colorado.edu.
