Sharon Matusik is an Associate Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Leeds School of Business, University of Colorado. Her current research focuses on entrepreneurial and venture capital firms and on innovation and knowledge sharing in established firms. For example, she had looked at topics such as how markets value innovation activities of firms, what accounts for variation in profitability levels of entrepreneurial firms, and how the diversification of a venture capital firm (i.e., the different industries it invests in) affects the performance of the venture capital firm. Her work has been published in top international academic journals such as Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, and Academy of Management Review< and is widely cited in the management field.
She is also on the Editorial Board of two of the top academic journals in the field of management, Academy of Management Journal and Academy of Management Review. Dr. Matusik served as the Director of the Doctoral Program in Strategic, Organization, and Entrepreneurial Studies for four years, is the Chairperson for the Knowledge and Innovation Interest Group of the Strategic Management Society (one of the main professional society for management scholars), and is the Academic Director of the Deming Center for Entrepreneurship.
Her teaching interests are in the area of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship and she has taught extensively at the MBA, undergraduate, Ph.D., and executive level. She also spent a semester as a Visiting Professor at Universidad del Desarrollo (UDD) in Santiago, Chile (July – December 2010); UDD is ranked number one in Entrepreneurship in Latin America.
