Application Instructions
In November 2012 we will begin accepting applications for Fall 2013 admission.
All application materials for fall 2013 must be received by the deadline of January 15, 2013. Please plan ahead when submitting your application materials to allow time for all materials to arrive by the deadline.
Note: All academic documents received by the University of Colorado Boulder become the property of the university. The university scans all transcripts into an electronic application file and destroys the paper copy shortly after that. We are unable to return any original or official transcripts to the student.
All complete applications submitted by the deadline will be considered for financial assistance.
A complete application consists of the following items:
- Online Application for Graduate Admission.
- All applicants are required to submit their applications via our online application system. You may access the online application by clicking here (right-click to open in new tab).
- Applicant Information Form.
- Please complete and upload this form with your online application.
- Official GMAT or GRE Scores
- Each applicant is required to submit GMAT or GRE scores that are less than 5 years old regardless of the applicant's previous educational or work experience.
- We will not waive this requirement.
- Scores must be less than 5 years old as of the application deadline of January 15, 2013.
- Official scores must be sent to us by the testing agency. GRE scores should be sent to school code 4841. GMAT scores should be sent to program code 11S-Z2-41.
- Official scores MUST be received by the application deadline of January 15, 2013.

- TOEFL or IELTS Scores
- All students are required to be proficient in English. Scores from the TOEFL or IELTS are required if your native language is not English. This requirement may be waived if at the time you apply, and within two years of your desired admission term, you have completed at least one year of full-time study at a U.S. institution, or at an institution in a country where English is the native language.
- Scores MUST be received by the application deadline of January 15, 2013.
- Scores should be sent to school code 4841.

- Official Transcripts
- Applicants are required to have a bachelor’s degree. A graduate degree is not required for admission, though previous graduate study may help your application by demonstrating a foundation for advanced coursework and by indicating your ability to do graduate work. Please submit one official transcript from every college or university you have attended (regardless of whether you received a degree).
- Applicants who have attended schools outside of the United States can find more information on required credentials here.

- Personal Statement
- Applicants must explicitly address their research interests as well as their career objectives. Since the doctoral program is research-focused, it is critical for the Admissions Committee to be able to evaluate whether there are faculty at the Leeds School of Business available to mentor the doctoral student in their area of expertise.
- If you are aware of specific faculty members with whom you would like to conduct research, please list them and explain why you would like to work with them. List any documents, such as thesis, journal articles, or publications, which could be used to support your application.
- Please upload your personal statement with your online application.
- Current Resume or Curriculum Vitae
- Please upload your resume or curriculum vitae with your online application.
- Three Letters of Recommendation (minimum)
- Letters of recommendation are preferred from faculty who can address your capacity for graduate coursework and research. When you complete the online application you will enter your recommenders’ names and email addresses. Information about how they complete a recommendation form and upload their letter will be emailed to them after you submit your application.
- Application Fee
- Applications received without fees will not be processed or evaluated. The application fee for domestic applicants is $50 and for international applicants is $70. Payment is made through the online application system.
If You Applied in a Previous Year and Wish to Reapply
If you applied to the Ph.D. program in the past and were not admitted you may reapply by using the online application. You should submit a new application, personal statement, application fee, vita, and transcripts for any coursework completed since your last application. You may reuse previously submitted letters of recommendation or submit new letters.
